Catherine Tate is set to return to the TARDIS for the complete 13 week run of Series Four of Doctor Who.
Award winning comedian Tate will reprise her role as Donna, the runaway bride from last year's Christmas special, despite turning down the Doctor's invitation to travel with him at the end of that adventure.
When Catherine was asked if she would like to become The Doctor's new companion at the press screening of The Runaway Bride, she replied, "I would love to, but no one has asked!" Well, now they have.
"Catherine was an absolute star in The Runaway Bride and we are delighted that one of Britain's greatest talents has agreed to join us for the fourth series," announced Doctor Who's executive producer and head writer, Russell T Davies. "Viewers can expect more ambitious storylines and a whole host of guest stars in 2008."
Catherine Tate added: "I am delighted to be returning to Doctor Who. I had a blast last Christmas and look forward to travelling again through time and space with that nice man from Gallifrey."
Freema Agyeman who has played Martha Jones, The Doctor's companion throughout the critically acclaimed third series, will return to the show to join The Doctor and Donna mid series.

I'm really excited that Donna is returning to Doctor Who because I really liked her. She was sympathetic towards the Doctor over his loss of Rose, where as Martha she was more self-centered and didn't care about Rose or the Doctor only, herself and the crush she had on him.

OMG, winterspell! You are so right, it's scary - that's EXACTLY what I think! Although she didn't know much about Rose, she knew that he must have more than just liked her, because of what he said at the end of Smith & Jones. And she looked reeeeally pi*sed off in Shakespeare Code when the Doctor said, "Rose'd know. That friend of mine, Rose. Right now, she'd say exactly the right thing." ENTER MARTHA'S ANNOYED FACE.
Rose/doc 4eva!

We don't know where The Doctor Will meet Donna, my guess would be at a shop or her workplace. Miss Focusing I'm glad you agree, I just can't understand those true Doctor/Rose fans who have turned their backs on the relatioship and now adore Martha and The Doctor. Give the Doctor time to greive for goodness sake, he's just lost the love of his life, then Martha comes along expecting him to love her the way she love's him. I'm sorry but to me The Doctor and Rose, will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart.

I'm not too sure what to think about Donna being back. I thought she was great in the Christmas Special, but maybe a bit over the top for a whole series... maybe I'm just being sceptical, not so good with change, lol.
But I'm hoping I'll love the character through the series as much as I did before.

RTD did say that the Donna in the christmas special was just going to be a one off character. He did mention that there would be some changes to her character which, I personally would like to see. I'd like to see if Donna remembers him in anyway. That would be interesting, what also would be interesting is how Donna would react to Jack.
