Doctor Who star signs book deal
Piper had three number one hits and seven top five singles
Doctor Who actress and singer Billie Piper has signed a six-figure deal to write her autobiography.
The 23-year-old star will reveal details about her marriage to DJ Chris Evans and her years as a teenage model and pop star.
The book, published in the autumn by Hodder and Stoughton, promises an "astonishingly candid insight" into Piper's life.
"I've a few good stories I'd like to share," Piper said.
Best-seller
She said: "I'm hoping the book will be honest, funny, insightful and, above all, life-affirming.
"This is a chance for me to talk openly about other areas of my life. Things that people won't know. Things that I'm hoping lots of people can relate to and maybe even be inspired by."
Hodder editorial director Nick Davies said: "Billie has done more in her 23 years than most of us will do in a lifetime and she is ready to talk about it with honesty and humour.
"I have no doubt that we have a best-seller on our hands."
Swindon-born Piper was signed up to a record label at the age of 15, and her debut single Because We Want To topped the chart in 1998.
The singer-turned-actress married Evans in Las Vegas in 2001, when Piper was 18 and Evans was 34. The couple split three years later.
After various TV appearances, Piper landed the role of Doctor Who's assistant Rose Tyler in 2004.
She won most popular actress prize at the National Television Awards last year.
